ARABIA, Southern. Saba'. 1st century BC to 1st century AD. Drachm (Silver, 28 mm, 5.48 g, 4 h), imitating Athen's 'New Style'-coinage. Male head to right, with long curls; laurel wreath within another wreath border. Rev. Owl standing right on overturned amphora, head facing, between two monograms; in field to left, Ν (in Sabean), the whole within a wreath composed of amphorae. Huth 283-286. Munro-Hay 1.13i2. Tf. LXI,12. SNG ANS 1475f. Beautifully toned. Struck from the usual somewhat worn dies, otherwise, very fine.
